The 9th Annual MinMax eSMART User Conference, held October 15-17 in Fort Worth, Texas, brought together industry experts, users, and innovators for three days packed with intensive training, forward-thinking discussions, and collaborative exchanges designed to advance the collective MinMax eSMART experience. This year’s event saw record engagement, underscoring MinMax’s commitment to empowering users with tools, knowledge, and resources for success in the ever-evolving utility landscape.
The conference opened with an Advanced MinMax eSMART Workshop for experienced users, followed by hands-on sessions for newer attendees. The workshops provided a platform for exploring MinMax eSMART’s advanced features and tackling technical challenges directly with MinMax’s technical team, while a Texas-themed networking reception offered participants the chance to connect and share insights in a relaxed setting.
Day two featured an inspiring keynote by industry authority Alan Ross, who provided fresh perspectives on reliability, sustainability, and trends shaping the utility sector, leaving attendees energized and ready to engage. The day also included tutorials led by MinMax experts on asset management, data analytics, and asset tracking, along with impactful user case studies. A professor from Southern Methodist University (SMU) shared new research in data analytics and machine learning, showcasing possibilities for MinMax eSMART users, while a large Generation Cooperative collaborated with SMU on a case study addressing short-term weather and load forecasting. The afternoon continued with interactive sessions on predictive maintenance, recognition of top users through the MinMax eSMART Ring of Honor, and a user forum to gather feedback on 2023 survey results and discuss upcoming features.
The conference’s final day highlighted presentations from vendors and partners, including an impactful session on ISO 55001 asset management practices led by Dr. Nand Singh of MinMax. Attendees were given a sneak peek at MinMax eSMART Release 10.x, and an open forum invited suggestions for 2025 enhancements. Sessions on NERC compliance (FAC-008 and PRC-005) wrapped up the conference, equipping participants with essential guidance on key regulatory standards.
